About Victor
I’m a Filipino cartographer based in Hawaiʻi. I enjoy telling stories and exploring ideas using data and thoughtful design. Born and raised in Manila, I moved to Honolulu in 2018 to study urban planning at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
My thesis is a study of the spatial heterogeneity of COVID-19 on ʻOahu, using GIS tools and techniques to analyze variables related to density, land use, housing, and demographic characteristics.
I aspire to be a cartographer who makes maps that inspire a love for place and that promote justice and democracy. My book, An Atlas of West Maui, is forthcoming from the University of Hawaiʻi Press.
